Responsibilities

TEAM DESCRIPTION:

The Tax Team prepares regular payroll tax filings to the IRS and state agencies on a daily, monthly, and quarterly basis. The successful candidate must also be able to work under deadline pressure, thrive on change, welcome challenges and have a process- improvement mind set.

  • Manages and directs the work of Tax Accountants
  • Reviews of test cases in the modification and improvement of tax software
  • Manage the testing activities of applications to meet business requirements, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify existing or potential issues
  • Closely works with the Technical Product team and Product Development to ensure priorities and objectives are aligned with business needs
  • Track and report the test status and test coverage on all assigned tasks
  • Writes detailed descriptions of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify Processes and technology.
  • Review tax balancing, filing and forms prior to and after they have been sent to the taxing authorities
  • Review year-end data scrubbing, balancing, forms and filings for 1099’s, W-2’s and various
  • Perform tax research on existing and emerging tax laws
  • Manage development projects as needed to and take necessary measures to control the risks
  • Defines and implements quality assurance practices and procedures
  • Proactively interacts with management to gather information, resolve problems and make recommendations for business and process improvements and participates in the hiring process for the department


Qualifications

  • Full understanding of accounting controls
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced multi-tasking, hands-on environment
  • An inquisitive, critical thinker with the ability to analyze and interpret high volumes of data
  • Detail and process improvement oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to compose reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information; respond to questions from managers, clients, and colleagues
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work independently with minimal oversight
  • Proficiency with current office technology, including Expert knowledge of MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point, Access) required

Experience: Minimum of 4 years tax and audit experience; Agile methodology experience a plus

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Tax, Account, or relevant work experience; Master's Degree preferred.

Certification:  CPA a plus
