Job Description

The Business Info Analyst Sr is responsible for creating dashboards and reports for operational customers through use of various data sources. The analyst is also responsible for analyzing business requirements, writing/editing query code, understanding optimal data sources, and peel-the-onion analytics. May require taking business issue and devising best way to develop appropriate diagnostic and/or tracking data that will translate business requirements into usable decision support tools. May make recommendations based upon data analysis. Experience with relational databases and knowledge of query tools and statistical software is required. Ability to manipulate large sets of data is also required.Primary duties may include, but are not limited to: 
• Create management dashboards and operational reports
• Make presentations to operational management.
• Creates ad hoc reports and periodic reports based on operational data.
• Write query code to mine data from company warehouses
• Perform peel-the-onion analytics to establish root cause.
• Performs quality checks on data.
• Analyzes data using various levels of summarization and drill-down
• Develops and analyzes business performance reports and provides notations of performance deviations and anomalies
• Assess customer business requirements, understand business need, and write appropriate code to mine data.
• Provides analytic consultation to other business areas
• Requires a BS/BA degree
• 5-7 years of business analysis experience that includes knowledge of systems capabilities and business operations; or any combination of education and experienced, which would provide an equivalent background.
• Strong business knowledge of claim processing preferred
• Experience in writing SQL required
• Experience with Power BI & DAX highly preferred
• Experience with defining business requirements required
Intake call – 5/14/19
  • Contract to Perm role – will hire them as quickly as they pick up the work and fit in the team
    • Salary will be provided in the chat notes
    • MRP – 82k plus bonus
  • Reporting for the claims team around service operations
    • Process old claims – building dashboards, expanding PowerBI reporting
    • DAX & PowerBI experience is a must
  • Finding old claims that haven’t been processed – need to find out why they’re incorrect, fixing them (through SharePoint ticketing system), and processing them
  • Handling ticketing is 50% of the job
  • SaaS exposure
  • Indianapolis is their preference but Denver and Richmond is good too
  • Hiring timeframe
  • No H1B
  • Healthcare experience is nice but the more technical skills are what’s most important
    • Sub queries, etc.
    • Diagnosis codes, revenue codes
    • DAX & PowerBI they need help on because his team is starting to use it
  • Interview process
    • Brief phone interview (personality and background)
    • 2nd interview will be in person if in Indy/Denver/Richmond, more in depth interview (situational, technical, etc.)
  • 5 years’ experience minimum
    • Looking for someone who wants a long term fit, not a short term solution
    • Wants someone to stay for at least 3 years
    • Average tenure of his team is 20 years (a lot of knowledge sharing, etc.)
  • Internal posting was done prior
    • The internal candidate did not have the strong SQL and technical skills that are needed
    • Only had one external candidate
  • Team
    • 2 new staff in their 1st year (loves them)
    • His department is in the midst of a transformation
    • Their reporting is currently performed in siloes (specific to their 6 claims systems)
      • Over the last 3 years they’ve aggregated these systems (SIMON is the name now)
      • Moving from Teradata servers to Hadoop based
      • They’re wanting to build Director level dashboards
      • Looking to expand upon cross platform/domain analytics
