Robert Half is recruiting for a DevOps Manager with an innovative and rapidly-growing organisation, based in Newport.

The Role

Reporting into the Head of Service Delivery, the DevOps Manager will work closely with the software development and operational teams to continuously improve the productivity and quality of our platforms. You will be heavily involved in the design, implementation and maintenance of our integration pipeline having a strong focus towards automation and process improvement.

The successful candidate will be expected to have a strong knowledge of DevOps methodology, procedures, strong people management experience along with an awareness of ITIL processes and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Crete DevOps processes and procedures and put in place across the organisation
  • Lead by example and hands-on technical expertise in software development, delivering application software CI/CD solutions across a range of technologies and languages (Jenkins, Artifactory, Azure Devops, Java, C#, Powershell, Python)
  • Hands-on using various scripting technologies for the use in configuration management
  • Understanding of container management with Docker and orchestration with tools such as Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, Azure, Azure Devops.
  • Defining and managing the road map for the implementation of DevOps within the enterprise.
  • Supporting and instilling a continuous improvement ethos.
  • Lead, grow, mentor and develop high-performing DevOps engineers helping them follow a perfect career path
  • Supporting the IT Teams in major change initiatives
  • Performing day to day team leader activities, such as managing absence, holidays, performance management, etc.
  • Document plans, support instructions and other necessary documentation
  • Act as a technical coach or mentor
  • Identify opportunities to making key enhancements

Your Profile

  • Previous experience in leading/managing a team or mentoring staff
  • Hands-on with experience in administering integration and deployment tools
  • Excellent understanding of scripting languages such as Java or Python
  • Excellent understanding of build and integration systems such as Jenkins or Azure DevOps
  • Containerisation technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes
  • Previously worked within a Windows or Linux environments
  • Highly driven and be able to motivate others
  • Adaptable and always willing to learn new technologies

Salary & Benefits

  • The IT Infrastructure Manager is paying between £40,000 and £50,000 plus excellent benefits.
