Robert Half Technology is working with a global recruitment organisation to recruit for an Information Security Specialist.

Based in Birmingham, this organisation is an S&P 500 listed business with over 65 years' experience and 325 offices worldwide. They are currently going through a significant growth period and this role will be vital for their EMEA business moving forward.

Within the role, the Information Security Specialist will be responsible for providing all security services to global offices ensuring that they meet enterprise policies and procedures. This will include supporting the organisation with security governance, risk and compliance processes and providing consultancy to senior stakeholders within IT.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable information security knowledge that has been acquired from working within a similar role. They will also have excellent stakeholder management and have the ability to interpret business needs and propose pragmatic solutions. Their experience will also enable them to adapt to certain environments and work with minimal oversight.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that appropriate internal controls are in place to meet overall IT compliance requirements. Conducting periodic reviews to measure the ongoing effectiveness of security controls.
  • Providing internal project security consultancy; working with IT, business and legal teams to understand business requirements and identify the security requirements to meet them.
  • Completing technical and business-focused risk assessments.
  • Maintaining EMEA security risks and managing these via the risk management process, including facilitating risk discussions with IT and business stakeholders, tracking risk remediation efforts, reporting, etc.
  • Conducting vendor security assessments on prospective 3rd party suppliers.
  • Responding to external security assessments from prospective clients, responding to request for information from our sales team.
  • Assessing compliance with industry best practice standards (such as GDPR, ISO27001/2, NIST Cyber Security Framework, Cyber Essentials), identifying key gaps, developing recommendations and implementing plans to move closer towards compliance.
  • Working as part of the broader IT department, partnering with other teams to deliver shared objectives.


Required Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience within a Security Specialist / Security Office role
  • Knowledge of standards and regulations such as: GDPR, ISO27001, NIST Cyber Security Framework, SOX, GDPR, UK Data Protection Act 1998.
  • Broad information security knowledge and experience, including governance risk and compliance, policy, standards and processes.
  • Good understanding of: Cloud Computing (SaaS and IaaS) concept, Microsoft Windows, Web Servers, Database Technologies, IP Networks, mobile devices.
  • The ability to document and follow process accurately and with attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • To be comfortable interacting with stakeholders at all levels and be willing to represent the company positively and professionally in external client-facing discussions.
  • A proven track record of delivering projects and solutions to a high standard.
  • Be flexible and have the ability work outside of normal hours and be able to travel when needed.
