Position Title: Assembly Plant Vehicle Team Engineer - NVH #270956
Rate: DOE
Location: Dearborn, MI 48121
Duration: 1 year contract + possible extension and / or hire
Up to 5% travel 

Position Description:
Product Development, Vehicle Engineering is looking for an on-site Assembly Plant Vehicle Team (PVT) engineer that can ensure product quality is maintain for Wind & Road Noise and includes maintaining air leakage to target. This job will include responsibilities for current production Ranger as well as future launches including the upcoming Bronco.

Duties described below:

  • PVT V11/V12/Air Leakage leader responsible for delivering and maintaining air leakage targets, wind and road noise for production Ranger Lead launch for upcoming Bronco from prototype through launch and into production.
  • Work with assembly plant teams in Final, Body Shop and Paint shop to ensure all necessary air leakage, wind noise and road noise processes are followed and targets are maintained.
  • Variability and Risk assessments by collecting data on current production and on future launches
  • Lead team to coordinate prototype testing and report out to vehicle program manager and chief engineer
  • Use CAD to communicate issues to plant teams, suppliers and management
  • Perform audits of manufacturing facilities, walking the line and working with Quality inspectors and Plant Quality teams.
  • This position will require the engineer to work in an assembly plant. Days typically start early, 7AM or earlier. Depending on issues there is a possibility of working longer than 8 hours and weekends. During launch, hours could be very long. There is a limited amount of travel, mainly in the USA.


Skills Required:

  • Strong Leadership, communication and presentation skills
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and statistical software, Matlab and Minitab
  • High integrity with good interpersonal skills
  • Teaching and coaching skills


Experience Required:

  • 1+ years of experience hands-on identifying and resolving air leakage, sealing, wind noise or road noise issues relating to supplier quality, manufacturing, and/or design
  • Experience in manufacturing environment, must be able to work in assembly plant which may include OT


Experience Preferred:

  • 3+ years of experience in air leakage and/or wind noise


Education Required:

  • Bachelors of Engineering in Mechanical, Electrical and/or Aerospace Engineering


Education Preferred:

  • Master’s of Science in Mechanical, Electrical and/or Aerospace Engineering
