Position Title: Body Structures Core Engineer #270548
Rate: DOE
Location: Dearborn, MI 48124
Duration: 6 year contract + strong possibility of extension and / or hire
Up to 10% travel is expected 

Position Description:
Professional position utilizing engineering education and experience to develop body structure systems. The Body Structures Core Engineer is responsible for developing body structure strategies, systems and requirements with an emphasis on efficient interaction with interfacing systems.
The engineer will lead the following engineering activities:
• Understand body structure system design and relationship to vehicle attributes including Safety, NVH, Durability
• Develop body structure strategies to enable maximum reuse and minimum complexity • Develop feasible component and system designs to meet requirements
• Lead engineers of surrounding components and systems to develop system interfaces (seats, electrical, etc.)
• Create 3D CAD that meets system design requirements
• Interpret and apply requirements to system designs
• Develop project work plan and deliver project to the timing

Skills Required:
•Applying DMAIC and DFSS principles
•Reviewing and signing-off on component drawings and gaging practices
•Applying 8D, fish-bone, and DOE problem solving methodology
•Creating Boundary Diagrams, P-Diagrams, & DFMEA
•Reviewing CAE models and CAD drawings
•Leading design reviews based on Failure Mode Avoidance
•Maintaining DVP&R and signing-off on DV tests – including FMVSS requirements •Leading Purchasing, Finance, and Cost Estimating in supplier selection to achieve program targets
•Supporting supplier and Ford CAE testing of structure and closure designs prior to tooling
•Executing threaded fastener joint designs and tests

Skills Preferred:
•Working knowledge of Catia CAD
•Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
•Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point).

Experience Required:
•2 years of experience as structures D&R Engineer

Experience Preferred:
•Recent product development experience with Ford body commodities a plus •Familiarity with Ford requirements (understanding and interpretation of)
•Knowledge of Ford software systems: AIMS, WERS, eFDVS, AVBOM, and Integrator

Education Required:
•Requires a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

Education Preferred:
•Master’s preferred.
