Title: Editor/Writer I
Rate: $30.43/hr
Location: Los Angeles, CA 
Duration: 6 month contract + possible extension/conversion

Top 3-5 Required Skills:
• Working knowledge of computer applications for publishing, image handling and web production, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, social media and web content management systems
• Knowledge of the fundamentals of writing, grammar, syntax, punctuation, and AP Style
• Effective management of multiple priorities simultaneously
• Professional work ethic and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• 3 years of relevant work experience
• Submission of a portfolio of work including electronic materials

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree

Top 3-5 Preferred Skills:
• Professional experience in a higher education or other nonprofit communication setting
• Knowledge of the education field, including the mission, vision, goals, and infrastructure of college or university schools of education

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Executes effective communications including basic writing, editing, proofreading, graphic production, electronic communications, and web content.
• Helps ensure consistency and continuity of news and story delivery and key School messaging across these various mediums.
• Creates and manages Web content calendar for key external-facing, top-level “brand” and administrative pages
• Creates and maintains the identified Web page content
• Assists Media Relations Director in executing routine social media outreach and comprehensive social campaigns
• Supports Executive Director of Communications and Executive Assistant to the Dean in tracking Rossier’s master events calendar and Dean’s calendar of speaking events to provide support for Dean (briefing materials, talking points, speeches); contributes to conception and launch of potential new vehicles for Dean’s communications: Web page, e-communications, etc.
• Assists Publications Director with fact-checking and story research
• Assembles/edits and distributes key newsletters: Dean’s, Research Centers’, School’s
• Supports routine collateral creation (flyers, invitations, cards) and coordinates collateral updates and reprints
• Coordinates distribution of magazine and newsletters with printers/mailers/list managers
• Communicates with internal colleagues – Events, Admissions’ Digital Content Writer and Webmaster, Alumni Relations – to coordinate communications as necessary
• Cover news and events as assigned via social media or other reportage
• Writes and/or edits for content clarity
• Staffs photo and/or video shoots; manages photo archive; may edit video
• Manages Rossier digital signage and building displays
• Delivers projects on time and within budget
• Adheres to University branding and style guidelines
• Performs general communications logistics, support, administration, and other duties as assigned
