Title: Sr. Medical Call Center Representative (6 openings)
Pay: $19.99/hr
Location: Alhambra, CA 91803
Length: 3-6 months contract + possible extension and/or conversion
Hours: Varies: open 7am-7pm staggered shifts, possible weekend
Parking: Free/Provided

Job Summary:
Answers, screens and directs incoming and outgoing telephone calls, electronic messages and other web-based communications using a call management system. Responds to basic inquires and refers other inquires to appropriate medical personnel. Contacts and distributes messages to medical personnel using a variety of electronic methods including text, voice and email systems. Schedules and confirms initial and follow-up medical appointments, registers patients and performs insurance verification.

Schedules high volume client appointments according to provider availability and specialty. Maintains daily, weekly and monthly client appointments. Communicates schedules to students, faculty, staff, or other medical facilities, as appropriate. Provides a high level of customer service for all clients. Receives and screens client telephone calls or visits. Takes messages and provides information to clients or customers. Registers client according to established protocol. Confirms client's identification and demographic information. Maintains client accounts and refers to business office as necessary. Reviews schedule on a regular basis and communicates any changes, such as no shows, time constraints, conflicts and other scheduling difficulties to appropriate personnel. Maintains electronic files, databases and records used to prepare master scheduling template documents.  Performs clerical duties, such as data entry, filing, faxing, photocopying, distributing mail, and/or performs other incidental department tasks, as assigned. Covers other areas as needed. Ensures patient's right to privacy, safety and confidentiality are maintained in accordance with HIPPA regulations. Maintains a safe environment in accordance with compliance standards, policies and safety regulations. Ensures compliance with established infection control policies.


  • 2 years of experience working in a clinical or hospital setting.
  • Experience scheduling appointments and maintaining multiple calendars.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of HIPPA compliance and various insurance types.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and empathy when communicating with patients. Ability to multi-task.
  • Bilingual: Spanish, Chinese and other languages preferred.
  • Required license/certification: Fire and Safety Certification. If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire, and maintained by renewal before expiration date.
