Title: Radar Interferometry Algorithm Developer
Pay: DOE
Location: Pasadena, CA 91105
Length: Long Term Contract + Extension

Job Summary:

Looking for a Radar Interferometry Algorithm Developer to contribute to exciting mission work studying hazards and global environmental change.  Mission data will reveal information about the evolution and state of the Earth crust, help scientists better understand Earth processes and changing climate, and aid future resource and hazard management.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Designing, implementing, testing, and validating algorithms and ground processing software that will produce NISAR data products distributed to science users and the public
    • Algorithms may include SAR image formation and RFI mitigation; polarimetric SAR and InSAR signal processing; phase unwrapping; SAR/InSAR calibration, validation, and quality assurance tools; and atmospheric and ionospheric corrections
  • Adapting and processing simulated and actual SAR data for algorithm testing and validation
  • Use and contribute to the open source InSAR Scientific Computing Environment (ISCE)
  • Work collaboratively with other engineers to develop, test, and deliver complex algorithms and software systems
  • Understand and apply principles, theories, concepts, and techniques in radar processing and software development
  • Communicate results to other project elements and the scientific community

Education / Work Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Geophysics, Computer Science, or closely related technical discipline with a minimum of 4 years of related experience.

Required Skills:

  • Experience with SAR and SAR interferometry software development
  • Strong Python and C++ skills
  • Strong communication skills, especially writing

Desirable Skills

  • Higher-level algorithm and processing experience for an InSAR science application
  • Broad knowledge of signal processing with applications to radar
  • Extensive knowledge of computer programming and software development
  • Strong communication skills, especially writing
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Hands-on radar calibration and operational processing experience
  • Experience developing and processing in a cloud-computing environment
  • Additional earth remote sensing and GIS software knowledge
