Millwright / Mechanic Technician
Detroit, MI (Southwest Side)
$32.51/hr.
Day Shift: 7:00am - 3:30pm Monday - Friday, Overtime very unusual but must be willing to work overtime and accept call-ins after hours and on weekends (infrequent)
Cement company (grinds raw materials into cement dust using conveyors, grinding machines, etc.)
Will be responsible for:
Install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, and physical structures. Indoors and outdoors.
Perform 5 senses inspections on machines or equipment to detect malfunctions, diagnose problem and repair machine.
Dismantle defective machinery and equipment, install new or repaired parts as required.
Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
Lay out, assemble, install and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
Repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
Repair and maintain physical structures. Perform rigging and lifting of heavy loads.
Fabricate from prints or sketches in accurate and timely manner.
Operate cutting torch and welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
Inspect parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements using rules, calipers, micrometers, or other measuring devices.
Participate in good housekeeping practices within the plant.
Promote environmental and safety awareness in alignment with safety and environmental goals
Qualifications:
Graduate of a certified (journeyman) Millwright or Industrial Maintenance Apprentice Program or equivalent.
Language Skills: Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; as well as mechanical prints
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Computer Skills: Knowledge of Maximo, Sisquali, Excel, Word, and/or proficient with computerized maintenance software
Physical Demands: Bending, stooping, stretching and occasional lifting for inspection, lubricating & oiling purposes.
Other: Able to operate forklift and aerial manlift
Must have basic millwright hand tools and measuring devices.
Must be able to perform work with little to no supervision using critical thinking and root cause analysis to perform daily tasks and inspections
Must be able to work in a team environment
Must be able to work in a safe manner at all times
