Job Description

Sequel TSI Madison/ Courtland, has an immediate opening for a part-time licensed Psychiatrist. Sequel TSI of Madison and Courtland are intensive residential treatment facilities providing an array of gender specific, evidenced based and trauma informed services for male adolescents, ages 12-1eight, with serious and/or chronic emotional and/or behavioral management problems that interfere with the child’s ability to function in the family, school and/or community setting outside of a residential environment.

The Psychiatrist will provide psychiatric services such as medication management, individual psychiatric counseling. Provides collaboration and continuity with other staff involved with youth and his/her family. Responsible for initial psychiatric evaluations/progress notes. Actively participates as a part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Education:  Medical degree from an accredited medical school. Psychiatry Residency completed from an accredited medical program.

Experience:  Two or three years of experience in direct care of supervisory position, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must comply with licensing requirements, i.e. DYS, Mental Health, Private School Licenses, state and local municipalities, etc. Clinical experience working with adolescent medication management. Experience with multi-disciplinary team approach.

Certification:  Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry. Alabama Medical License, Controlled Substance number and DEA number.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Psychiatric Assessment- provide initial psychiatric evaluation to include a diagnosis and initial plan
  • Progress Summaries- provide medication monitoring and initial plan
  • Treatment Plan- review and signature of plans including diagnosis
  • Medication management- prescribe psychiatric medication to residents as indicated. Manager medicine for proper dosage and side effects. Follow up with effectiveness on symptoms.
  • Documentation- Psychiatric Evaluations, Progress Notes, Treatment Plan Reviews, and Signatures
  • Treatment Team- attend staffing meeting to review residents’ progress and provide clinical expertise. Interact with the multi-disciplinary team.
  • On-call duties include care for psychiatric emergencies and medication management
  • Staff relations- productive, effective and professional relationships with all disciplines; keep supervisor informed of treatment issues as needed.
