Overview: Sequel Youth and Family Services is looking to hire a part time cook who will be responsible for preparing and serving delicious meals to our 5eight residents, ages 12 – 1eight.  These meals will be prepared according to posted menus.Each cook is responsible for ensuring the kitchen and its equipment, are properly cleaned, sanitized and maintained according to Madison County Health Department and company policy.


  • This position requires a High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have experience in institutional cooking or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (baking, boiling, frying, etc.)
  • Must have good working knowledge of Madison County Health Department rules and regulations.
  • Must have adequate reading skills to utilize data from menus to prepare meals for residents.
  • The ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and menus as well as the ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Must be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to residents, co-workers, and supervisors of the organization.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to prepare a meal according to a resident’s special dietary need.
  • Additional certification and training will be required as deemed necessary by Sequel to fulfill job duties and responsibilities.
  • Possessing a current Food Managers Serve Safe Certification a plus but not required for hire.

 Work Schedule: The following work schedule is subject to change depending on the program needs. This is a Part-Time position.

  • Friday through Monday- 12:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
