Job Description

Forest Ridge Youth Services is seeking energetic and motivated individuals to work at our residential program near Estherville, IA.

Forest Ridge Youth Services is a residential treatment facility for at-risk female youth. Forest Ridge Youth Services facilitates an environment that supports a young woman's journey to learn more about who she is, the reasons for some of the decisions she has made, and how she can increase the respect she demonstrates for herself and others. Forest Ridge works to resolve emotional and behavioral issues through cognitive-behavioral and gender-responsive treatment, a highly-structured program, and a normative culture. 

Night Youth Counselors supervise students overnight. They are responsible to ensuring the safety and security of all students during sleeping hours.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Role Model pro-social behavior to students and co-workers.
  2. Provide safety and security to the students at Forest Ridge.
  3. Conduct and record fifteen minute visual bed checks, or as needed per the student needs.
  4. Maintain the security of the facility and grounds.
  5. Call co-workers on night shift every 2 hours.
  6. Handle emergencies--In the event of an emergency, notify the individuals listed on the Emergency Procedures.
  7. Inform night supervisor, group leaders, or team leaders of all relevant situations that occur during the night shift.
  8. Clerical duties, as assigned.
  9. All other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or GED equivalent.  It is an essential function of the job that staff must be capable to participate in physical training activities and be capable of physically restraining the students if and when necessary.
