Job Description

Sequel Youth and Family Services, LLC is a leading national provider of a broad spectrum of diversified behavioral health services for people with behavioral, emotional, or physical challenges. We are a driven organization dedicated to improving the lives of the people it serves. In Southern Utah, four staff-secure facilities; Red Rock Canyon School, Falcon Ridge Ranch, Lava Heights Academy, Mount Pleasant Academy form the Care Youth Corporation within Sequel. These Residential Treatment centers help each struggling student find worth and value. We employ individual dedicated to positively influencing our student while they learn to work through histories of severe trauma and behavioral issues.

Currently we are looking to fill a position at Lava Heights Academy for a Human Resource Officer. This is full time position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Staffing and Recruiting

  • Develops and implements recruitment and staffing strategies to ensure the facility is at maximum manpower allocation.
  • Maintain an organized system to manage candidate pipeline.

Employee Relations

  • Develop and implement employee engagement and retention initiatives.
  • Develop policies and procedures to ensure consistency and mitigate risk of legal complaints.
  • Acts as a Wellness Champion for the organization.
  • Partner with leadership team to prevent and resolve employee complaints, concerns or issues.
  • Prepares and distributes monthly newsletter.
  • Maintains Discipline Action Tracker.

HR Compliance

  • Maintains OSHA log and post annually.
  • Maintains updated tracker relating to Safety, Sexual Harassment Prevention, Anti-Bullying Policy, Tuberculous Test and Background Check Applications.
  • Maintains updated appropriate state binders and employee’s files.
  • Maintains required notices on Employee bulletin board.
  • Conducts HR audit to ensure employee files are complete.

Training and Development

  • Conducts HR section of the New Hire Orientation.
  • Assist leadership team with identifying employee training requirements.
  • Notifies appropriate leadership of Performance Evaluation requirements and tracks accordingly.
  • Assist leadership team with identifying career development opportunities for employees.
  • Educate leadership team on federal and state laws associated with HR policies.

Risk Management

  • Administer Workman’s Compensation Program.
  • Escalates all ADA (American Disability Act) request to the Human Resource Divisional Manager for review.

Unemployment Claims

  • Prepares Unemployment claims responses and supports the leadership team in the hearing process.
  • Facilitate payroll processing along with submitting appropriate Personnel Action Request forms.

General 

  • Will maintain professional conduct in dress, language, and actions.
  • Maintain active certifications/tests in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/first aid, Safe Crisis Management (SCM), Tuberculosis (TB) test, and to attend all other trainings required by Sequel and State Licensing.
  • Use the certifications and trainings to model desired behaviors and outcomes. If need be prevent students from harming self, others, or in extreme cases property.
  • Promote a positive work environment with all team members by communicating information effectively and efficiently. This includes checking program issued e-mail on a regular basis to communication important information in a timely manner.
  • Adheres to policies, procedures, and compliance standards as they appear in the Employee Handbook, Sequel Youth and Family Services Code of Conduct and Compliance Plan, HIPAA Compliance Policy and Procedure Manual, the Utah State Office of Licensing Code of Conduct and Client Rights, and other policies as they are presented and signed.
  • Adheres to the policy and practices of creating, editing, transmission, storage, and disposal of all Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Performs other Human Resource related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, HR systems
  • Time management skills
  • Solid communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive in dealing with issues that may arise
  • Ability to organize, multitask, prioritize and work under pressure
  • Must be at least twenty one years old
  • Communicate fluently and effectively
  • Ensure and maintain confidentiality
  • Pass a background check & drug test

Required education: Bachelor’s
