Job Description

Sequel Youth and Family Services is a privately owned company that develops and operates programs for people with behavioral, emotional, or physical challenges. Our mission is to prepare our clients to lead responsible and fulfilling lives by providing mentoring, education, and living support within a safe, structured, dynamic environment — whether on one of our campuses, in the community, or in their own homes. We are currently looking for a Lead Cook for our residential program located in St. Augustine, FL that is operated exclusively for the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice.

Position Overview:

The Kitchen Manager is responsible for preparing meals and serving meals; breakfast, lunch, and dinner for students.  The Lead Cook will prepare meals according to posted menus.

  • Supervises kitchen staff, to include hiring and disciplinary actions up to and including recommending termination.
  • Plans menus based upon sound nutritional practices and results of food preference studies.
  • Consults with the AFA on problems relating to kitchen area.
  • Maintain clean/sanitary kitchen and related areas, to meet Health Department Standards.
  • Will be responsible for purchasing and maintaining inventory within approved budgetary constraints.
  • Completes monthly dietary reports where required.
  • Preparation, cooking and cleaning of kitchen area.
  • Serves on committees as assigned by Administrator.
  • Supports by action and example the Sequel TSI Creed.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

Education: Minimum of High School Diploma

Experience: One year in institutional cooking and Board of Health Food Handler Certification is required.
