Program Overview:

Located approximately 30 miles west of Knoxville, TN, Kingston Academy is a 52-bed coed Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) helping children between the ages of 5 to 17. Both our Residential and Educational programs are licensed and accredited by Joint Commission (JCAHO), as well as Department of Mental Health and Disability services.  Kingston Academy not only serves children from Tennessee, but also children from Nevada, Kentucky, Arkansas, West Virginia and North Carolina.  We focus on behavioral change through the power of choice. Staff builds strong relationships with students to help them understand the choices that they have.  This method with structure and consistency allows trust to grow between our students and staff.  Students play such an important role to our structure that they participate in our staff orientation, trainings and campus government.

Job Overview:

Youth Care Workers provide supervision of resident’s milieu program. Demonstrates ability to accomplish the appropriate tasks as to the age group under supervision.  Acts as advocate in providing safe delivery of care to promote wellness. The ability to respond calmly and effectively to emergency situations, ability to de-escalate student and to complete incident reports as necessary. Provides physical care needs to residents who are not able to take care for their own activities of daily living.  Assists in providing academic instruction on unit, intervening in problem behaviors, assisting resident with homework/study habits.

 Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be at least twenty one years of age.
  • Ability to provide a safe and secure environment for students while serving as a role model.
  • Ability to write documentation in student records, routine reports, and correspondence.
  • Ability to influence and practice the Sequel vision and mission.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to supervise student's daily routine and behaviors and respond accordingly, when necessary.
