Sequel Youth and Family Services has a great full-time opportunity for a Medical Director with strong clinical management, leadership, and communication skills to lead our team at Sequel- Pomegranate in Columbus, Ohio. Pomegranate specializes in adolescent psychiatric care. We have a state of the art 70 bed secure residential treatment facility for mental and behavioral health disorders, and a 20 bed acute hospital for teens age 12-17. Pomegranate is licensed and certified by The Ohio Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services and Accredited by The Joint Commission on Hospital Accreditation.


Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Medical Director will oversee the acute unit (20 beds). The Medical Director will provide diagnostic assessment and treatment services to patients; oversee team treatment services through consultation and supervision; determine the need for medical examination and treatment of the patients; document the needs of patients; and perform other related tasks as may be directed by the program director.


  • Assume overall responsibility for coordinating the care of all patients
  • Approval of initial evaluation
  • Certification of the Diagnosis
  • Certification of the Treatment Plan
  • Intervention for medical reviews
  • Intervention for level of care changes
  • Review at termination of treatment
  • Approval for psychological testing prior to administration
  • Attending utilization management meetings
  • Staff supervision


  • Performs psychiatric interviews and clinical observations of patients being evaluated for mental health and substance abuse/addiction treatment services
  • Provide individual psychiatric treatment and medications to patients commensurate with accurate diagnostic assessment.
  • Collaborate with various professional disciplines in the provision of team treatment services; and lead case conference discussions in developing master treatment plans and goals for service outcomes
  • Maintain appropriate recordings of progress notes, medication reviews, and dispositions for patient discharge.


  • M.D or D.O. Degree, completed residency in psychiatry, and have board certified status
  • Must have knowledge of psychopharmacology and appropriate skills in the medication treatment of patients
  • Must demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and abilities to relate effectively to patients in psychotherapy
  • Must have ability to write clear, precise, and accurate reports. 10-12 admin hours a month
  • Commitment to participation in ongoing in-service staff training and development.
