Job Description

Norris Academy, an 43+ bed Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility in Andersonville, TN serves youth ages 6-twenty one who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or neurodevlopmental disorders.

POSITION SUMMARY

We are looking for an Occupational Therapist who will provide individual and group occupational therapy services for residents.  This will be a Contract position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Plans, organizes, and conducts occupational therapy programs for residents.
  • Confers with parents, administrators, testing specialists and therapists to develop and implement individual education plans (IEP) for each resident/student.
  • Provides individual and group occupational therapy services in accordance with IEP requirements.
  • Collaborates with teachers to assist with sensory needs as needed and in accordance with IEP requirements.
  • Teaches socially acceptable school behavior employing therapeutic interventions.
  • Communicates with staff members to plan programs designed to promote educational, physical and social development of residents/students.
  • Selects activities that will help residents learn life-management skills within the limits of their mental and physical capabilities.
  • Prepares reports that detail residents' progress.
  • Completes and maintains necessary records.
  • Trains staff on how to provide for the needs of a resident during and after therapy.
  • Recommends changes in the residents' living environment, consistent with their needs and capabilities.
  • Completes case notes and IEP reports as needed.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Master's degree in a related field

Experience: One to two years' experience

Computer Skills: Microsoft Office

Certificates & Licenses: Occupational Therapy License
