In Southern Utah, four staff-secure facilities; Red Rock Canyon School, Falcon Ridge Ranch, Lava Heights Academy, Mount Pleasant Academy form the Care Youth Corporation within Sequel. These Residential Treatment centers help each struggling student find worth and value. We employ individual dedicated to positively influencing our student while they learn to work through histories of severe trauma and behavioral issues.



Currently we are looking to fill a position at Falcon Ridge Ranch and Lava Heights Academy for a Physical Education Teacher.This is full time core teaching position working with grades 6-12 in a multi age classroom. Classroom sizes are small, and learning and teaching impact is huge! This is an opportunity to work with talented educators in a creative environment. We integrate a variety of teaching modalities and value collaborative learning and teaching.



Job Description:

  • Provides direct and indirect instruction that promotes a positive learning environment.
  • Create and maintain a class syllabus each term.
  • Track assignments completed by each student on a weekly basis.
  • Maintain accurate and complete academic records for each student every term as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations (i.e. attendance, grades, credits, report cards, academic work, etc.)
  • Report monthly progress to treatment team on each student pertaining to their behavior, growth, goals, and improvement in regards to their Individual Education Plan (IEP), Student Education Plan (SEP), and/or treatment plan.
  • Update parents, guardians, or social workers monthly on their student progress.
  • Be prepared and participate in groups and program meetings (i.e. teacher meeting, parent teacher conference, parent weekend, etc.).
  • Is a role model for students by teaching them socially acceptable behaviors by emanating care and concern. These socially acceptable behaviors may be determined by the students’ Individualized Education Plan (IEP), Student Education Plan (SEP), and/or treatment plan.
  • Creates and maintains appropriate boundaries with students and team members to promote an atmosphere of safety where treatment can be facilitated.

Qualifications: Must have a current UTAH Teaching License. Preferably in Physical Education or Special Education, but other content areas will be considered. Experience teaching youth, capability to connecting with and disciplining high-risk teens preferred. Possess good teaching and communications skills (written and verbal).
