Program Overview:

Our mission is to prepare our clients to lead responsible and fulfilling lives by providing mentoring, education, and living support within a safe, structured, dynamic environment — whether on one of our campuses, in the community, or in their own homes.  We are currently looking for a Shift Manager for our residential program, Alachua Academy, located in Gainesville, FL that is operated exclusively for the State of Florida Department of Juvenile Justice.

Position Summary:
The Shift Manager is primarily responsible for ensuring that the shift is operating efficiently and effectively, including assisting in all levels of day-to-day operations ranging from responding to crisis situations to reporting student/staff needs and concerns to the designated Assistant Facility Administrator (AFA).

Summary of Duties:

  • Participate in the direct care and management of adolescents as prescribed by the physician, licensed therapist and treatment team.
  • Collaborate with other Shift Managers and facility staff during appointed shift as needed to support the management of all staff and students across all units.
  • Effectively run daily huddle meetings to ensure that shift information is being efficiently communicated to on-coming shift.
  • Respond and assist in crisis management for student population and ensure the well-being and safety of students and staff on site during assigned shift. Responsible for providing accurate and detailed daily shift summaries to management.
  • Reports and communicates facility concerns to the appropriate facility leadership.
  • Assists AFA with handling difficult or complex problems and in resolving escalated complaints or disputes.
  • Responsible for tracking and maintaining student inventories such as reinforces and snack inventory.
  • Recommend corrective actions and disciplinary actions in accordance with Sequel TSI policy to AFA.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma required. Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • One year direct care experience in an acute or residential treatment setting with demonstrated supervisory ability/skill, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be twenty one years of age or older.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and procedure manuals, and student records.
  • Ability to write documentation in student records, routine reports, and correspondence.
  • Must be capable of relating to people in a manner to disseminate information in a clear and understandable format.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to read and interpret educational and clinical assessments.
  • Must possess initiative and judgment capabilities to organize and plan activities.
