Sequel Youth and Family Services of Mountain Home is an intensive secured residential treatment facility for boys, ages 10-1eight, with behavioral and sexual disorders. The boys are sent to our program by various different areas locally and out of state and they have to complete our treatment program. We have a private school on campus where the boys can continue their education. We offer group and individual counseling as well as basic life skills training. We utilize the Positive Peer Culture model at our program. The program is very structured and during the day the boys will go to school, complete chores, participate in therapy sessions, participate in recreational activities and learn life skills.

Job Overview:

  • Under the direction of the Education Director, the Special Education Teacher provides direct educational services to student population using professionally and educationally acceptable methods and techniques.
  • Under the supervision of the Lead Teacher the Special Education Teacher reviews the student's educational needs, fulfills criteria set forth in each residents IEP, arranges and implements designed lesson plans and documents each resident’s educational progress according to educational accreditation standards.
  • Facilitate learning in controlled environment for adolescents, ages 10 - 1eight.
  • Teach Special/General Education
  • Be involved in treatment team.
  • Contribute to execution of set IEP guidelines.
  • Maintain safe and supporting classroom environment.
  • Maintain student progress reports.
  • The successful candidate will be one that enjoys small class sizes, individual attention for students, reliable, energetic, creative, and flexible

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related discipline.
  • Experience with adolescents ages 10 -1eight or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Exceptional verbal and written skills are required to develop educational curriculum and to instruct students.
  • The successful candidate will have the ability to write assessments and lessons plans as well as well as the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret educational and program assessments.
