SUMMARY OF JOB CONTENT

This position assists in the management of graphitization, & machining. Responsibilities include staffing, budgeting, objective setting, performance evaluations, prioritization and scheduling, organization of departments, cost controls, training, compliance with plant rules, all regulations and laws, and disciplinary action.

Key Accountabilities

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES / ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

•Directs production, processing, and distribution activities within the graphite and machining departments.
•Close interaction with Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality Control to ensure optimization and efficiency of the department processes.
•Analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, or other operational reports, to detect production problems.
•Reviews operations and confers with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems.
•Prepares and maintains production reports.
•Creates production schedules.
•Management of departmental raw materials and consumables.
•Interacts with functional support positions when needed, to initiate corrective action or to resolve technical as well as personnel problems.


Job Requirements

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Direct – 2 Supervisors.
Indirect – ~ 30 employees.


Preferred Qualifications

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

•4-year college degree preferred.
•Minimum of 5 years experience managing operations in a manufacturing environment.
•Experience using SAP
•Experience managing in a union environment preferred.
•Strong verbal and written communication skills.
•Excellent planning and organizational skills.
•Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
•Experience in technical and maintenance related functions.
•Strong management skills, including the ability to motivate, coach and discipline.

This position works between an office environment and a plant environment. Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. Occasionally requires working outdoors or indoors in non-controlled conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

The position may require work near moving mechanical parts, and may on occasion, be exposure to fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, high, precarious places, or toxic or caustic chemicals. May require some exposure to pits, tanks, and extremely dirty environments.

This position may require occasional travel.
