Job Description

Fabricates wooden crates or boxes that are used to pack and ship foil products.

Key Accountabilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Reads blueprints, shipping notices, and other specifications, and inspects product to determine size and shape of container, materials to be used, and types of supports and braces to be used.

•Lays out dimensions on materials with ruler, measuring tape, and pencil.
•Saws materials to size.
•Assembles materials.
•Wraps and pads product with excelsior, paper or other packing material.
•Builds crate around large or odd shaped articles.
•Nails cover on crate.
•Paints crates as needed.
•Wraps and tightens metal bands around crate.
•Attaches identification labels or stencils containing such information as shipping destination, weight, and type of product contained on crate.
•Repairs broken crates.
•Moves container to shipping area, and moves lumber, paper, and other wrapping supplies to crating area.
•Sharpens saw blades.
•Assists materials packagers when needed.
•Assist Track loading or unloading when needed.

Job Requirements

•Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
•Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write simple correspondence.
•Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
•Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
•Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
•Manage Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
•High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
•ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 experience preferred.

•Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.

•While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
•Frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
•Occasionally exposure to high precarious places and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
•While on duty, Protective Equipment provided for this position must be used.
