Job Description

This key position supervises and coordinates all functions of the Plant Engineering Department in accordance with established division and corporate policies and procedures, ensuring the physical plant is appropriate and well designed for business needs and that environmental standards are met.


Key Accountabilities

•Leads, supports and develops all engineers and professionals within the Engineering department.
•Coordinates department workload to ensure all resources are used most efficiently and effectively.
•Works with plant manager and technical/production leaders to determine and implement plan capital programs. Gathers information to ensure inclusion of all possible needs.
•Oversees and designs engineering projects for developing plant environmental and production equipment with emphasis on safety and process optimization.
•Approves all revisions and assigns engineering work to appropriate members of department.
•Ensures effective management of outside contractors in the design and construction of plant equipment and processes.
•Estimate costs of capital projects to facilitate cost/benefit analysis.
•Maintains all company and government mandated environmental, health and safety standards.
•Prioritizes projects based on costs, benefits and urgency of need.
•Re-prioritizes long-term projects for inclusion in long range capital project plans.


Job Requirements

•BS degree in: Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical or other related engineering disciplines.
•Excellent Computer skills with general knowledge of computer integrated production systems.
•10 years minimum related work experience, in a technical managerial role, in a high-volume manufacturing setting.
•Excellent knowledge of power distribution systems and rotating equipment.
•Experience should be a combination of technical, production and maintenance related functions.
•Strong supervisory skills required.
•Effective communication, both verbal and written is required.
•Strong analytical and mathematical skills needed.


Preferred Qualifications

•MS/MBA degree in: Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, or other related engineering discipline.
•P.E. License preferred.
