Job Description

Work under the supervision of the Certified Quality Technician/Department Lead with minimum supervision, performs first article inspections, in-process and final inspections of machined parts using precision gauging and CMM’s. Calibrates measuring equipment and maintains calibration system. Maintains inspection area and all related files


Key Accountabilities
  • Follows all safety procedures and works in a safe manner
  • Read and follow work order instructions
  • Programs and operates coordinate measuring machines
  • Evaluates fully or partially machined parts against samples, drawings, or blueprints
  • Performs in-process inspection of complex machined parts
  • Informs machinist of the extent of differences between print nominal and actual dimensions
  • Performs final inspection of complex machined parts
  • Requires operation of all lifting devices

Job Requirements

  • Knowledge of all measuring equipment used for inspection of machined graphite parts
  • Ability to perform basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
  • Ability to read and understand complex blueprints
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Successful completion of Fork Truck Training

Physical Demands
  • Stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear is a necessary task for over 2/3 of the day
  • Sitting is a physical demand that requires under 1/3 of the day
  • Use hands to finger, handle or feel, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl for 1/3 to 2/3 of the day
  • Up to 10 lbs. And up to 25 lbs. May be lifted over 2/3 of the day
  • Up to 50 lbs. And up to 100 lbs. May be lifted under 1/3 of the day
  • Close vision (clear vision at 20” or less)
  • Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more)
  • Color vision
  • Depth perception
  • Peripheral vision
  • Ability to adjust focus
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions

Work Environment

This position works in a plant environment. Works near moving mechanical parts and are exposed to fumes or airborne particles under 1/3 of the day.
