Job Description

This position is responsible for the engineering support of manufacturing operations to develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge in product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.


Key Accountabilities

• Developing, evaluating, improving and documenting manufacturing processes.
• Analyzing manufacturing process flows continually for the enhancements of quality, cost reduction, and throughput.
• Providing engineering support in production department to trouble shoot and resolve technical problems.
• Evaluate non-conformity causes and report results and corrective actions
• Provide engineering design support for machine fixturing, tooling, material handling equipment, and safety devices.
• Assist department managers with projects and/or provide technical advice.
• Write reports and project reports as required.
• Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluate products according-to specifications and quality standards.
• Performs other duties as required that are in support of the department’s goals.


Job Requirements

• 4 year college degree in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial or Materials Engineering
• Very strong written and verbal communication skills
• Able to work well without close supervision and make effective decisions
• Very strong analysis/problem solving skills
• Strong math and statistical process control skills
• Must be able to encourage and foster teamwork, including the ability to persuade others to provide necessary information / data for process evaluation
• Experience with general machining, general graphite processing, and material handling equipment


Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years work experience in a manufacturing environment, preferred
• Experience in leading work groups and or supervision
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks and SAP are a plus.

The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk, and is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. Frequently, the employee will be required to lift 10 pounds and on occasion, the employee is required to lift or move up to 25 pounds, and rarely, the employee will be required to lift up to 50 pounds. This position requires close vision, the ability to adjust focus, distance vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision. Good color vision is important to this role.

This position works between an office environment and a loud plant environment and makes some trips off-site. The employee will regularly be working near moving mechanical parts, be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. On occasion this position will be exposed to high precarious places, or exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. This position is required to travel 0% – 15% of the time.
