Support the Operation Department’s Process Control Team organizational structure and improvement objectives with regard to the complete understanding and documentation of select processes/value streams, including development of metrics/measurements that target and prioritize areas for improvement and track process capability over time. The successful candidate will utilize the principles and tools of Six Sigma DMAIC and/or Lean Manufacturing to develop process solutions in a team environment. Coordinate work efforts with a Process Control Team regarding the implementation of operational improvement ideas and pilots into full manufacturing. Support of production team members in making their own data-driven decisions toward the efficient running of their respective operations as well as the associated monitoring and reporting of operational results of manufacturing processes.
Key Accountabilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
•Assist Program Managers and Director of Operations leading projects for HITCO Carbon Composites, including Racing, Molding/Brakes, Hi-Temp Operations, Refrasil and CVD.
•Assist Sales Managers with projects associated with HITCO Carbon Composites (i.e. research, design, develop or coordinating improvements).
•Assist in developing and conducting team-based process improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
•Research, design, develop, improve, and implement continuous process improvement in selected processes while focusing on the needs of the production workers and promoting a strong teamwork atmosphere. Utilize the principles of Six Sigma DMAIC and/or Lean Manufacturing toward developing process solutions in a team environment.
•Assist production personnel through new manufacturing processes and help in developing measurements/metrics for evaluating progress.
•Perform statistical analysis of production trends to anticipate process variability and develop mitigation plans.
•Assist in developing illustrations, product flow diagrams and other visual cues for use by team members and support personnel in a Visual Factory environment.
•Assist in developing poke-yoke (fool-proof) strategies for the production processes.
•Analyze the value stream, including capability, capacity, throughput, work flow and logistics to recommend integrated solutions.
•Recommend methods, such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing work flow, relocating work stations and equipment, and purchase of equipment, to improve worker efficiency and reduce waste of materials and utilities.
•Assist with the preparation of labor, material and overall cost performance data and analyses for existing processes.
•In equipment-intensive processes, maximize utilization of key capital equipment and personnel by optimizing the production process, developing lot-sizing strategies, minimizing equipment setup times, and establishing appropriate Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) strategies.
•Identify waste in processes in the form of unnecessary transportation/movement, inventory, motion, waiting, over-production, over-processing, defects, and Lean strategies for mitigation.
•Work with Process Control Team and production workers to conceptualize
customized work station designs, handling fixtures and other engineering solutions to potentially problematic ergonomic and motion-wasting issues.
