Job Description

This position is responsible to assist and facilitate the development, design and implementation of the quality and continuous improvement systems for the St. Marys facility. Through communication, innovation and knowledge of the carbon/graphite manufacturing process, this position will provide leadership to enable the company to provide its customers a quality product in a timely manner and implement changes that will help reduce cost and improve productivity.


Key Accountabilities

•Process Owner of Customer Complaints: Complete an investigation of the root cause of the complaint through inspection of quality records and communication with production personnel; Determination of appropriate corrective action to be taken in response to customer complaint
•Administration of Corrective Action Plan (CAP) System: Verify that corrective actions have been performed as documented;Perform Root Cause analysis and implement corrective actions for various system problems identified (This may include leading a team of individuals); Maintain database and written log of all Corrective Action Plans (CAP’s) initiated in St. Marys
•Administration of the Internal Audit Plan: Serve as champion of the internal audit process, Perform audits according to the annual audit plan
•Customer Audits – assist when customer complaints or corrective actions are to be audited
• Represent SGL at customer locations for meetings concerning the conduction of DOE’s and capability studies, by both SGL and customers, that result from customer complaints


Job Requirements

  • Associates degree (min). or Bachelors degree in technical field (preferably Engineering. May consider equivalent experience.
  • Professional association certification preferred (for example, ASQ [USA], EOQ [Europe], etc.).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, statistical software, digital photography, Shop Vue, SAP.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; requires decision-making ability and the ability to work without close supervision.
  • Excellent organizational, customer service, analytical, problem solving and mathematical skills.

Work Environment

  • Works in office and plant environments and at times may travel to customer sites (2-3 times per year)
  • Generally exposure to moderate noise
  • Frequent work near moving mechanical parts, and occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles
  • Some exposure to outdoor weather conditions
