Job Description

Setup and run all saws and sanders to produce rough-cut and finished cut parts per work order instructions on a production basis with minimal supervision. Changes sanding belts, welds and changes saw blades.


Key Accountabilities
  • Follows all safety procedures and works in a safe manner
  • Read and follow work order instructions
  • Use Kaba Benzing terminal
  • Setup saw
  • Operates saw to accurately produce parts within tolerances
  • Change saw blades
  • Welds saw blades
  • Setup sander
  • Change sanding belts
  • Operates all lifting devices
  • Understands material grades and marking
  • Understands and completes material issue and return sheets
  • Selects material from staging area
  • Use of ESS terminal
  • Returns material to return area and inventory
  • Understands and completes first article inspection forms and all production related paperwork
  • Performs basic math functions
  • Requires minimal supervision
  • Keeps work area clean
  • Performs special duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Ability to read a tape measure within 1/32”
  • Ability to read a vernier within 0.005
  • Ability to perform basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
  • Ability to convert fractions to decimals
  • Prior experience operating Fork Lifts or successful completion of Fork Truck Training.
  • Written and verbal communication skills, low-level decision making skills, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well without close supervision and strong analysis/problem solving skills are somewhat important.

Physical Demands
  • Over 2/3 of the day is spent standing.
  • 1/3 to 2/3 of the day is spent walking, using hands to finger, handling or feeling, reaching with hands and arms and talking or hearing.
  • Under 1/3 of the day is spent stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Up to 10, 25 or 50 pounds must be lifted over 2/3 of the day.
  • Up to 100 or more than 100 pounds must be lifted under 1/3 of the day.
  • Close vision (clear vision at 20”or less) distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more).
  • Depth perception, and ability to adjust focus are necessary vision requirements.

Work Environment

This position is in a plant environment which involves working near moving mechanical parts and being exposed to fumes or airborne particles over 2/3 of the day. Outdoor weather conditions and risk of electrical shock are encountered under 1/3 of the day. Loud (i.e., metal can manufacturing department, large earth-moving equipment) noise is typical for this job. Slippery floors.
