Job Description

Directs all functions in the assigned plant in order to ensure an on-time, cost effective and efficient production in the required quantity and quality meeting all legal, labor, environmental and safety regulations according to Business Unit strategy. This position is focused on production.

Close interaction with all production-related departments to ensure ongoing improvement of productivity and effectiveness.

Oversees the production planning on the basis of the overall BU production strategy concerning budget, capacity and cost. If there exists a Supply Chain Management function, this accountability is carried out in coordination with or by SCM.

Directs and controls all plant manufacturing activities through a functional staff organization according to production planning and in compliance with all legal regulations concerning environment, health and safety as well as with defined standards and procedures. Interacts closely with support functions, e.g. HR management, manufacturing engineering, materials, quality control, plant accounting, plant engineering and maintenance.


Key Accountabilities

•Ensures the optimization of production processes with regard to quality control and efficiency; supervises engineering projects together with the concerned central departments.
•Ensures the development of maintenance programs and the planning and execution of the required maintenance of the production facilities to guarantee efficient production processes.
•Ensures effective internal plant communication and reporting procedures.
•Facilitates and implements new management projects and processes, e.g. OMS
•Responsible for staff recruitment, training and development within the area of responsibility.
•Identify issues which compromise overall objectives, provide solutions for these issues and make final decisions.
•Ensure adequate succession planning, employee training and development for the site.
•Accountable for the technical planning, business management and successful implementation of all investment projects.


Job Requirements

•4-year degree in a technical field, e.g. Engineering
•More than 5 years experience in the production field of a carbon and graphite business, preferably with a variety of positions at several locations.
•More than 5 years experience leading site or department operations.
•Knowledge of graphite manufacturing, including CNC machining operations.
•Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Frequently, the employee will be required to lift 10 pounds and on occasion, the employee is required to lift or move up to 25 pounds, and rarely, the employee will be required to lift up to 50 pounds. This position requires close vision, the ability to adjust focus, distance vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision. Good color vision is important to this role.

This position works between an office environment and a loud plant environment and makes some trips off-site. The employee will regularly be working near moving mechanical parts, be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. On occasion this position will be exposed to high precarious places, or exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. This position is required to travel 0% – 15% of the time.
