KOMO/KUNS has an immediate opening for a dynamic Broadcast Meteorologist to join the award-winning multi-platform KOMO News team. The ideal candidate will provide multiple examples of a weathercast with unique content, storm tracking and a forward-looking viewer-centered approach. As a meteorologist at KOMO News, you will track storms, issue “Weather Warn” days, produce graphics and report live during weather events. Complete technical knowledge of weather computer systems and the ability to manipulate and control the technology is a requirement.

Duties include:

  • Forecasting, producing and presenting clear and concise weathercasts- which tell a story and connect with viewers
  • Developing content and graphics for on-air, web and social media
  • Making public appearances on behalf of the station
  • Working with producers to determine relevant weather content in breaking and everyday situations
  • Live shots and reporting from community events and in breaking news

Additional responsibilities and requirements:

  • Pitching story ideas
  • The ability to work well with others
  • Must have excellent time management skills

Education/Experience:

  • At least 3 years of previous on-air experience presenting weather and news information is required
  • Technical knowledge of weather computer systems and the ability to manipulate and control the technology required
  • A bachelor's degree in Meteorology or similar field preferred
  • Accreditation as a Broadcast Meteorologist preferred
