WBFF is seeking an experienced On-Air News Promotion Manager for our Creative Services Department. Qualified candidates must be able to create, conceptualize, script, shoot and edit cutting edge news promos for Baltimore's most-award news operation. The ability to work well with internal and external clients is vital. 

The On-Air News Promotion Manager reports to the Director of Marketing and Creative Services.  The On-Air News Promotion Manager works closely with the Director of Marketing and news management along with the editorial staff to conceive, supervise, and execute daily news topical promotion, TSR's, Investigative promos, POPs and branding/image campaigns. 

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively conceives on-air marketing initiatives. Plans, writes, produces, directs and edits creative concepts for all on-air news promotion as well as digital platforms (Facebook and other social platforms, internet re-targeting, streaming audio, OTT)
  • Supervise the daily news topical producer with guidance on story selection, writing and producing topicals, special news programming promotion and news opens
  • Manage the creative direction of all on-air creative and off-air branded promotional video for the TV station
  • Provide overall creative leadership of on-air news promotion and branding with the goals of establishing ratings, revenue and brand awareness consistent with the station's brand guidelines
  • Manage the news promotion producer team and maintain an effective workflow and effective timelines per project
  • Supervise production of on-air/video materials for marketing, advertising sales, and distribution
  • Ensure that marketing initiatives are executed in a manner that furthers the brand and communicates station and news operation's positioning and tone
  • Properly coordinate and schedule all aspects of news promotion production, including working with talent, management, outside vendor and internal staff
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Requirements:

  • 5-8 years of experience working on a successful news promotion team as writer/producer or team lead
  • Non-linear editing experience. Adobe Premier non-linear editing experience is a must. Adobe Creative Cloud (AF, Photoshop) proficiency is very much preferred and  a big advantage. Avid is a plus
  • Extensive shooting and scripting of both short and long form spots
  • Ability to write, shoot and edit promos that entices and encourages daily tune-in
  • Ability to conceive and communicate ideas
  • Ability to develop effective branding campaigns for market television news leader
  • A strong understanding of fundamental design, sense of color, typography and composition
  • Advanced knowledge of the post-production process, including media management and encoding video to various formats
  • Ability to maintain a variety of projects and work with varying production styles while employing strong client service skills
  • Advanced knowledge of High-definition (HD) cameras and videography, motion graphics and creative lighting techniques
  • Experienced in overseeing and managing creative team and providing clear directions
  • Must be able to take constructive criticism and pivot under the director of management
  • Experienced at collaborating with a number of different personalities
  • Possess great leadership, motivational and communication skills
  • Be a motivated self-starter with A LOT OF IDEAS
  • Possess a general understanding of how TV ratings and digital analytics work
  • Balance multiple projects and meet high-pressure daily deadlines with limited supervision
  • Creative thinker with the ability to understand the needs of the product
  • Ability to maintain digital assets, archives and edit systems
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Ability to routinely lift, carry and move equipment in excess of 40 lbs
  • A minimum of five years of experience in broadcast production is a must
  • A college degree is preferred
