Our recruiting team is fast paced, managing all openings across the company, and this role needs a recruiter that understands the importance of fine-tuned, targeted sourcing, to on-going, engaging relationships with passive candidates. Smalley is currently looking to add a Recruiter to our Talent Acquisition Team! He/she will be responsible for full cycle active and passive recruiting across the company, with a strong focus on engineers, and leadership/management positions. The Recruiter must have a commitment to talent acquisition, and be on the forefront of industry recruiting practices, with a desire to continuously strengthen and grow the practices of our Talent Acquisition team. Are you able to grab the attention of those passive candidates? Can you work through a high level negotiation process? The Recruiter must have the ability to utilize various forms of recruiting tools, e.g. Boolean searches, databases, social media, and ATS’.


  • Create from scratch and edit current job descriptions.
    • Determine applicant requirements by studying job description and job qualifications.
    • Meet with hiring managers to ensure an in depth understanding of the roles
  • Lead the creation of a recruiting and interviewing plan for each open position.
  • Review applicants to evaluate if they meet the position requirements.
  • Conduct prescreening interviews.
  • Maintain all pertinent applicant and interview data in the Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
  • Utilize LinkedIn Corporate in recruitment and posting
    • Participating in the job posting strategy, adding insight
  • Prepare and extending offer packages.
  • Onboard new employees in order to become fully integrated
    • Including: Coordinating pre-employment screening, obtaining new hire paperwork, first day orientations
  • Develop a pool of qualified candidates in advance of need.
  • Research and recommend new sources for active and passive candidate recruiting.
    • Build networks of qualified passive candidates.
  • Utilize the internet for recruitment.
    • Post positions to appropriate Internet sources.
    • Continuously improve the company website career’s section to assist in recruiting.
    • Research new techniques for recruitment.
    • Various social channels, text, video, etc.
  • Use social and professional networking sites to identify and source candidates.
  • Develop working relationships within colleges to build employer brand on campus
  • Give presentations at colleges, attend student group meetings, and increase college awareness of the company before and after career fairs.
  • Coordinate college-recruiting initiatives.
  • Attend career fairs for recruiting and company recognition
  • Stay on top of industry trends by attending seminars, webinars, and other educational avenues to ensure Smalley stays ahead of industry standards in recruitment and talent acquisition
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition team to enhance employer brand, overlap candidates, and create an organized work flow between the factory, administrative, and professional recruitment channels

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum 3 years in a recruitment role, in house or agency
    • Engineering Recruitment Preferred
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both written and oral
  • Proven ability to interact with and influence hiring managers on best practices, market data, industry trends
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple requisitions at one time
  • Must be authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis
