Job Description

KVUE, Austin's news leader, is looking for an Assistant News Director. KVUE produces bold, innovative content and we need a leader who will push that content forward relentlessly. This job is for an experienced news manager looking to take the next step. The role requires well developed organizational skills, including the management of schedules, story assignments and planning calendars as well as good news judgment, an assertive attitude and a strong belief in a digital first newsroom. 

​In addition to all these qualities, the successful candidate will also possess creative instincts that can lead our newsroom toward innovative new techniques for our on-air broadcasts, strengthening our market position, and moving us toward connecting with today's news consumer. 


  • ​​Work with the news director on innovation and transformation. Play a leading role in all editorial meetings. Lead producer rundown meetings. Manage newsroom schedules for all groups. 




Job Requirements

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in journalism or communications, 10 years of news experience and at least three years news management experience.
