Job Description

​Want to come work for one of the fastest growing morning shows in the country? KARE 11, the TEGNA owned property in Minneapolis is looking for a full-time Associate Producer for it’s award-winning Sunrise show who can write and edit news content for broadcast, online and social content. The successful candidate must be a quick learner who can multi-task during the news-gathering hours, sharing and helping to prepare content before, during and after a newscast or digital post. You will also be in charge of producing the first 30 minutes of the 2 ½ hour Sunrise show.

In this role, you will:

  • Write in an exciting, captivating and authentic manner.
  • Work as assigned by producers and executive producer to create news segments.
  • Edit video for on-air broadcasting and digital platforms.
  • Develop original content through social listening and independent sources.
  • Research for facts and credibility.
  • Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media (viewer pictures, webcam interviews, etc.) to enhance stories.
  • Serve as floor director during show hours which includes running teleprompter, Movi camera operation, and studio camera movement.
  • Perform other tasks as required by supervisor or executive producer.

  • Excellent communication skills and computer skills.
  • A degree or work towards a degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Flexible availability is essential. Position involves overnight hours, and could include the occasional weekend and/or holiday shift.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills required.
  • Basic knowledge of non-linear editing.
