Job Description

Summary:

WBIR, the TEGNA owned property in Knoxville is looking for a part-time Associate Producer who can write and edit news content for broadcast, online and social content. Associate producers must be able to multi-task during the news gathering hours, sharing and helping to prepare content before, during and after a newscast or digital post. 

Responsibilities:

  • Write in an exciting, captivating and authentic manner.
  • Work as assigned by producers and executive producers to create news segments evoking emotion.
  • Edit video for on-air broadcasting and digital platforms.
  • Develop original content through social listening and independent sources.
  • Research for facts and credibility.
  • Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media (viewer pictures, webcam interviews, etc.) to enhance stories.
  • Perform other tasks as required by supervisor or executive producer.

 

Job Requirements

 Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills and computer skills.
  • A degree or work towards a degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Flexible availability is essential. Position involves early and late hours and includes weekends and holidays.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills required.
  • Basic knowledge of non-linear editing.
