Job Description

WBIR, the NBC affiliate in Knoxville, is leading local media into the future and seeking an associate producer. We are looking for an energetic and passionate storyteller, and communicator with superior organizational and communication skills to assist in the planning, research, production, and writing of television and digital projects. The ideal candidate for the position of Associate Producer has a passion for the public media sector and a desire to be extraordinary at content production in WBIR’s performance and deadline-driven atmosphere. Associate Producer is a part-time, non-exempt position at WBIR.​

Responsibilities:

  • Provides support to television producers on newscasts for broadcast as well as digital producers across all platforms.
  • Assists with researching, writing scripts and preparing news stories.
  • Writes stories for the website and other digital platforms
  • Interacts with viewers/users on social media sites, via email, and over the phone
  • Performs other duties as assigned.​

Job Requirements

  • Must have strong attention to detail, be a proactive team player, and work quickly, accurately, and independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with script-writing both live and pre-recorded productions is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-directed, while also able to work collaboratively within a diverse team environment.
  • Demonstrates strong interest in career growth and upward mobility.
  • Detail oriented with a high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects and meet stated deadlines.
  • Attention, follow-through, dependability and good judgment are critical for success in this role.​
