Job Description

KCEN-TV, a NBC affiliate, and TEGNA Media owned station, has an opening for a Broadcast Engineer. The ideal candidate should have a broad base of technical skills and experience. This position will be co-responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing the broadcast engineering and studio activities day-to-day, including during live broadcasts. Additional responsibilities include assisting Engineering/IT and Production departments. For the right applicant we are willing to provide training. 

The ideal candidate should have some of the following experience:

  • Troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Knowledge of PC and PC Server Systems
  • Computer networking
  • Electrical Engineering and Repair
  • RF Engineering and Repair
  • Project management
  • ENG Techniques (Microwave and Satellite)
  • Studio Television Production
  • FCC Broadcast Regulation Compliance

 

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years technical experience in computer repair and service
  • Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and solve medium to complex technical issues in real-time
  • Ability to interact and communicate at a high level with technical staff, production personnel, managers and co-workers.
  • This position requires being on call and flexibility to work odd hours during maintenance windows or as emergencies dictate. 
  • A two-year technical school degree, associate degree in electronics or SBE certification is desirable.
  • Must be dependable, a self-starter, able to perform quickly and efficiently under pressure of deadlines.
