Job Description

TEGNA’s master control hub in Charlotte, NC is searching for a highly motivated individual to facilitate a streamlined and accurate interface between broadcast hub operations and traffic/programming.  This candidate must be detail oriented, organized and be able to problem solve under tight deadlines.  Strong communication skills in both verbal and written form are critical to the success of this candidate.  This position reports directly to head of hub operations but will interact on a daily basis with TEGNA’s traffic hubs (TCO) in Denver, CO and Dallas, TX.  

 

Responsibilities:

  • Act as liaison between the local station traffic teams and the Broadcast Operations hub in Charlotte in order to maintain a robust interface and to ensure the successful on-air execution of daily broadcast schedules and protection of Ad Sales revenue.
  • Document and execute SOPs for disseminating program information to ensure stations’ adherence to standardized show formatting and the ingest team’s adherence to standardized long form ingest guidelines.
  • Document traffic workflows that help facilitate an efficient central ingest process for short form content including Wide Orbit Traffic material entry standards, dub/ingest request procedures, monitoring receipt from delivery vendors and/or stations, manage the purge process, etc.
  • Active participation in the day-to-day processes and communications between local stations and Broadcast Ops to ensure playlist integrity, efficient content prep workflows, clearly documented operating contingencies for sports, specials and/or live breaking news. Ensure compliance with FCC rules & regulations.
  • Work closely with TCO Directors to maintain and implement TEGNA formatting standards for programming and commercial material.
  • Work in tandem with TCO Directors to manage the integrity of format codes, event types, short and long form naming conventions and management of shared material libraries across multiple stations.
  • Leverage metrics, data analysis, and reporting to monitor reliability and adherence to standards and operational process.
  • Provide on-going support, training and trouble-shooting skills necessary to assist both station traffic and broadcast operations teams as needed.

Job Requirements

 Requirements:

  • College degree or higher.
  • Minimum 2 years of traffic, sales support or engineering/master control experience in broadcast, cable or radio
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects effectively under deadline pressure
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and strong organizational skills are a must
  • Ability to effectively solve problems with sense of urgency
  • Creative and able to adapt quickly to change
  • Position requires strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong organization and time management
  • Proficient with computer software/applications, including Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word and Excel
  • WideOrbit traffic system knowledge (preferred)
