Job Description

The Broadcast IT Technician The ideal candidate will have good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with non-technical end users.  This position will support broadcast-centric software and hardware and respond quickly to provide technical support for news, sales, and other content production operations. 

The Successful Candidate Will: 

  • Excel as a “hands-on” technician capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Provide technical support to other departments within station
  • Maintain knowledge of and stay current on technological advances including computer software and hardware, media and entertainment technologies, television broadcasting, studio production automation, master control automation, workstation products, and Video Codecs and transcoding
  • Be available to work various hours and days including weekends, overnights, and holidays
  • Work closely with the Technology Managers and with corporate IT support and escalate all issues that are not able to be resolved
  • Effectively communicate the status of problems and challenges, provide updates to progress on projects, and offer solutions to technical issues along with keeping notes and details on projects and tasks.
  • Performing audio duties for a newscast
  • Cross-training in Master Control including operating, documentation, timing coordination, live shot tuning, ingesting material for future playback and more

Job Requirements


  • Degree or certification in IT or related field
  • Internship at a broadcast (television or radio) station a plus
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders and work on elevated surfaces, pull and install wiring, use hand and power tools, work on small components, and perform other physical tasks
  • Possess Strong Interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with all levels of management & user community
  • Possess strong multitasking skills
  • Able to work with little or no supervision
  • Willingness to train and adapt
  • Ability to look forward and anticipate problems
  • Basic troubleshooting skills
  • Work with a team in the pressure of a live television environment
  • Experience in a fast paced work environment a plus
  • Solid understanding of current computer hardware, network technologies, and Microsoft's Active Directory environment a plus.
  • Cisco iOS knowledge or related experience. Cisco certification is a plus
  • Understanding of file-based multimedia technologies and video edit systems is a plus.
