Job Description

NEWS CENTER Maine, the powerhouse #1 TEGNA owned NBC station in beautiful downtown Portland has a unique Broadcast Producer opening. “207” our Monday-Friday nightly 7 p.m. magazine show has a producer opening. In this job you must have the skills and knowledge of a newscast producer with the imagination of an artist. “207” features amazing storytellers, local and national music groups, big name authors as well as unknowns. This producer must plan out and balance a fun but complicated mix of content.

In this job you must be able to plan out a show calendar weeks and months in advance. You must also be decisive and communicate well in a team environment. The right producer will be responsible for the full integration of stories, interviews, graphics and social media within the broadcast. The ideal candidate must be able to strategize and supply content to our target audience. As a member of the News Broadcast Team, this producer will be required to contribute to the strategic planning for the greater broadcast and content team.

Job Requirements

Here's what you need:

  • A bachelor's degree in journalism or equivalent field
  • 1-3 years’ experience line producing
  • Strong leadership, writing and organizational skills
  • Obsessive about details, facts and planning ahead
  • Desktop video editing and graphics production skills using server-based digital video systems are required
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using social media for information gathering, crowd sourcing, and engagement with viewers and sources
  • Personally engaged and active in social media including: Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
  • Knowledge of Maine and New Hampshire is helpful in this position but not required
