9Health, one of Colorado’s most loved non-profits, is seeking a CFO/Vice President of Finance to join our team! 

The CFO/Vice President of Finance is responsible for leading financial strategies of the organization and is a key member of the executive team. Develops financial organizational strategies by providing financial and accounting information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic development and operations across the organization. Directs and manages all aspects of the Finance and Accounting functions of the organization. The CFO acts as principal financial representative of Nine Health Services, Inc. in financial matters for the organization and, as such, has a fiduciary responsibility to the organization. 

 

​​Job Duties:

Financial Management:

Develops and directs financial policies and procedures. Maintenance of all accounting records. Directs reconciliations of general ledger accounts. Ensures effective internal controls are established and in compliance.  Supervises staff accountant.

Financial Accounting and Reporting:

Prepares all financial statements. Monitors financial performance by measuring and analyzing financial results. Ensures compliance with Not-For-Profit GAAP accounting and applicable federal, and state laws for financial and tax reporting.

Financial Analysis and Planning:

Develops financial budgets, and forecasts. Monitors, analyze and reports variances in budgets and forecasts. Creates financial models for new lines of business. Provide financial analysis and strategies to the executive team to support strategic planning and initiatives.

Volunteer Management:

Leads volunteer recruitment & training for health fair cashiers. Partners with volunteer-supply groups to ensure sufficient health fair coverage, and ensures health fair equipment and internal controls are followed.

Risk Management:

Directs and develops risk management policies. Reviews, negotiates and maintains all insurance policies which include general liability, auto, officers and directors, medical professional, cyber liability, and property insurance. Evaluates potential business risks with insurance underwriters.

Cost Control:

Maintains cost controls and containment over all programs and departments based on policies established by CEO and BOT. Reports variances between budget and actual amounts to the CEO and BOT.

Investment Management:

Reports and advises the CEO and Finance Committee on all investments in the the operating reserve and endowment held by the organization. Oversees financial advisement relationship and investment policies.

Cash Management:

Establishes and implements cash management procedures and policies. Prepares and analyzes cash flow projections. Maintains banking relationships.

Department Support:

Advises all departments with regards to financial analysis, planning, purchasing, logistics, estimating, tax, and accounting issues.

Tax Accounting:

Manages the preparation of the 990 tax return each year. Evaluates transactions for any potential tax liabilities. Advises CEO and BOT on all tax matters. Prepares all other required tax filings with tax authorities. Responsible for all tax compliance.

Financial Audit:

Manages the financial audit each year. Maintains the relationship with the CPA firm.    

Legal:

Reviews legal issues with legal counsel. Analyzes and reports to the executive team legal strategies.

Finance Committee:

Staffs and reports to the Board Finance Committee. Provides financial analysis, budgets, forecasting, and financial reports to committee members and BOT.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Accounting or equivalent with knowledge of Not-For-Profit GAAP accounting.
  • Certified Public Accountant with active Colorado license.
  • Knowledge of Blackbaud’s Financial Edge and Raiser’s Edge packages a plus
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible financial leadership roles
  • Strong problem solving and creative skills
  • Must be prompt, dependable, articulate, detail-oriented; possess strong organizational and communication skills.  Must be people-oriented, curious, and enjoy working with community volunteers.
  • This position requires the occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Valid drivers license and good Motor Vehicle Record required.
