Job Description

TEGNA is seeking a dynamic Collections Accounts Receivable Specialist to service the Broadcast Advertising Customer Services – Financial Services group located in Dallas, Texas. This position will manage an assigned portfolio and provide customer support services as needed to both internal and external customers.

Collections / AR:

  • Ensures timely payments of accounts receivables for an assigned portfolio and work to minimize the risk of incurring bad debt and chargebacks to sales personnel.
  • Collection activity includes reviewing AR reports, performing daily analysis and decision-making to identify potential risk and implement effective solutions.
  • Engages in the investigation and resolution of customer issues/ inquiries in a prompt, effective and professional manner.
  • Ensures appropriate contact and relationships for all accounts.
  • Coordinates communications with station, customer, and TEGNA personnel related to escalated collection efforts involving third-party collectors and/or litigation efforts.
  • Collects on past due receivables, including calls & emails to customers.
  • Prepares ad-hoc analyses for tasks/projects as assigned.
  • Special Projects and other duties assigned by manager.
  • Initiates, monitors and resolves customer inquiries.
  • Performs account reconciliations / involves reviewing, interpreting and communicating account issues to customers and or stations for resolution.
  • Ensures credit holds are released per procedures and make recommendation for holds.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify and resolve discrepancies.

General:

  • Documents collection status creating notes or call log.
  • Thoroughly understands and documents A/R policy and procedures.
  • Resolve issues from both internal and external customers in a timely manner.
  • Researches and develops appropriate responses and conveys information to customers.
  • Provides customers with supporting documentation to ensure prompt payments.
  • Serves as backup to other team members to ensure timely processing of accounts.
  • B2B collection experience.

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • Associates/ Bachelor degree in Accounting / Finance, Minimum of 3 years related Accounting / Accounts Receivables experience.
  • Broadcast experience is strongly preferred. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent skills related to written/verbal communication, analytical, negotiating, supervising.
  • Strong organizational skills and professionalism highly expected.
