Job Description

KTHV, the TEGNA owned CBS property in Little Rock, DMA #57 is looking for a highly organized, digital-first thinking, clear communicator who can be our CONTENT COORDINATOR. We need someone who has a grasp on daily news events in Little Rock and Arkansas, can search for those stories the consumer will crave along with strong news judgment. In addition to the daily juggling of content, you need to think ahead, working with talent and photojournalists to schedule franchise shoots, special projects and anything else that comes your way.

This job requires someone who loves to take on many projects at one time. It’s for that person who can think “day of” content as well as three weeks in the future. Position will allow you to work closely with the Assistant News Director and Digital Content Manager to help plan the day and beyond.

This person will also have the ability and freedom to gather content, write content, post and edit content.

Responsibilities also include:

  • Monitor and filter content from traditional and emerging sources (including but not limited to online, social media, news releases, scanners, wires and other local and national news and information sources, etc.)
    • Generate and maintain excellent sources and relationships for content gathering
    • Contribute to multiple distribution platforms throughout the day including gathering, writing and producing content, creating graphics, shooting stills and/or video, editing, feeding content via various portals
    • Service and support various news and information gathering organizations, i.e. TEGNA affiliates, CBS, etc.

Job Requirements

This position requires someone who embraces all the content gathering tools both traditional and digital.

KTHV prides itself on creating the best content in Little Rock, we need someone who can find it, gather it and keep it on track.

This position also requires someone who has a clear understanding what it takes to produce a newscast. You must have or obtain an understanding of what material makes a great newscast and great for the website.

 

  • Preferred 1-2 years newsroom experience; college degree in Journalism preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Extensive knowledge of social media, online, mobile, etc. content gathering tools and technologies
  • Strong communication, conflict management and customer service skills
  • Understand the tenants of professional Journalism
  • Sound news and information judgment
  • Ability to write in both broadcast and AP style
  • Deliver accurate content
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced and deadline driven environment
  • Ability to multitask and quickly adapt to new technology
  • Clear understanding of basic satellite, microwave, fiber and ftp feed/sharing technology and use
  • Database research experience preferred
  • Successful completion of a drug screening
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends
