Job Description

​​KVUE-TV, the ABC affiliate and leading news station in Austin, Texas is looking for its next Digital Assignment Desk Editor. The successful candidate will be someone who understands the importance of one content team serving all platforms: TV, digital and social.

​​​Key responsibilities include monitoring all sources for potential news stories including email, social and digital, phone calls and follow-ups to previous stories. The digital assignment desk editor is a key conduit between our television news-gathering operation and the digital team, making certain that we own breaking news, stay organized and on top of all news in Austin and central Texas, and that we publish on our social and digital platforms in a timely manner as well as prepare for 5 hours of TV news each day.

This position also includes planning for the future, next day, weekends and beyond including stories, staffing and follow ups. 

Job Requirements

Requirements include:

​A bachelor's degree in journalism or communication and 1-3 years of experience in a multi-platform news organization is preferred. This position depends heavily on organized individuals who know how to manage massive amounts of information effectively and make sure the rest of the newsroom has the critical information they need to win the news every day. Also, good communication and personnel management skills are critical when it comes to managing field crews, and the communication between the field and the TV and digital components of the organization.
