KFMB Stations (CBS 8, The CW San Diego, AM 760, 100.7 San Diego) -- is looking for a Digital Content Producer to join our team. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves news and working on the cutting edge of digital and social media. This position manages content produced by reporters, including copy editing, for our various digital platforms, and produces original content.  The successful candidate is innovative with solid news judgment. Qualified candidates will have experience producing content for digital platforms, working knowledge of online CMS software, video and photo-editing skills and the ability to work a flexible schedule. The person we hire must want to be part of a digital team that is focused on an audience first mentality. This position is based in San Diego, CA. 


  • Produce digital content (including enterprise content) for all KFMB platforms, including desktop, mobile, app and social
  • Create content through written articles, video, photo galleries, live streams, social media posts, mobile push alerts
  • Report news as it happens online (proven breaking news skills) and generate digital traffic through strategic content distribution
  • Utilize social media communities to discover unique original local content
  • Work with all newsroom departments on content coverage and distribution
  • Identify compelling, unique stories and user-generated content of interest to our audience
  • Utilize web and social metrics, search engine optimization best practices and content distribution skills to grow digital audiences make content priority and placement decisions
  • Position will require working outside of normal business hours, including nights and weekends and holidays

Job Requirements


  • At least 2 years of experience working as a digital news producer or digital journalist
  • Strong writing, editing and grammar skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or equivalent experience
  • Expertise in growing audience using web and social metrics, search engine optimization best practices and content distribution
  • Proven ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
  • Previous experience with online CMS (WordPress, BlogSpot, Wix, etc)
  • Solid editorial judgement
  • Experience posting to and monitoring multiple social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
  • Ability to prioritize and manage requests from various sources with an ability to work well with varied personalities within deadlines
  • Understanding of digital metrics and what they tell us about our audience
