Are you skilled at creating shareable, memorable and engaging videos for platforms like Facebook Watch, YouTube or Instagram TV? Do you have a strong sense of ownership of a brand’s digital video presence? Do you want to help redefine the way local news is produced for digital video platforms? 

9NEWS is searching for a creative Digital Video Producer who has solid news judgement and a vision for what local news can be on digital video platforms. This position is for someone who is passionate about working in an audience first newsroom. This person is a part of a team that manages newsroom assignments, urgently/aggressively covers breaking news and oversees the quality of 9NEWS digital content efforts across all platforms.   

The successful candidate is innovative with strong digital video experience who can optimize our video content to meet our digital video goals. Qualified candidates will have experience posting stories to digital-mobile-social platforms, working knowledge of online CMS software, familiarity with digital metrics, video and photo editing skills, experience creating and editing graphics using Photoshop and the ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.  


  • Collaborate with news leadership and all content creators to produce videos for, 9NEWS apps, OTT and YouTube 
  • Utilize existing high-quality video to edit and produce new or additional videos that are packaged perfectly for digital platforms 
  • Shoot and edit high-quality video content that starts with a digital-friendly style that can extend to broadcast shows 
  • Manage 9NEWS streaming platforms and content which includes programs and live streams  
  • Write engaging video headlines, and abstracts 
  • Create captivating video thumbnails 
  • Create graphic or video templates other producers can use 
  • Analyze video metrics to find trends than can help direct the 9NEWS video strategy 
  • Help build robust video libraries for 9NEWS’ YouTube channel and OTT apps 
  • Write digital stories using AP Style 
  • Write and create social media content following platform-specific trends 
  • Manage 9NEWS website, apps and social media accounts 
  • Listen and respond to 9NEWS audiences in whatever way they come to 9NEWS 
  • Copy edit content for our various desktop/mobile/social outlets 

Job Requirements


  • Excellent communications skills 
  • Understanding the tenants of professional journalism  
  • Experience with Edius, Adobe Suite or other comparable graphic and video editing systems 
  • Experience shooting video on DSLR or large video cameras 
  • Familiar with best practices across digital and social platforms 
  • Strong understanding of digital and social media analytics and metrics   
  • Organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines  
  • Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events  
  • Strong AP writing and copy-editing skills  
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekend and holiday shifts 
  • 1-3 years of experience preferred 
  • BA/BS in journalism, communications or related field
