Job Description

The Director of Digital Health Products is responsible for a diverse range of tasks and duties related to ensuring the success of the 9Health digital health program including designing, implementing, marketing and operating our new suite of tools. The position requires that this employee represents 9Health and works with vendors, participants and internal staff to ensure the success of the new product offering. This position requires travel, primarily within the state. Other responsibilities include any other tasks or duties assigned by the VP, Operations or CEO.

The 9Health Director of Digital Health Products will oversee and lead the design, development, implementation, and operations of 9Health’s new digital health tools line of business. In this role, the 9Health Director of Digital Health Products is ultimately responsible for the success of the program.  He/she is instrumental in:

  • Design and implement a product launch methodology for the 9Health digital health tools line of business and individual products that are added to the program.
  • Evaluating new tools and areas of focus for the line of business based on consumer need, feasibility of implementation and alignment with current 9Health business strategy, and backed by credible, medically based research as dictated by 9Health H&W team and the Medical Advisory Committee (MAC)
  • Setting targets for the digital health product line of business and developing plans and strategies to achieve them (e.g., number of participants, revenue, health outcomes)
  • With the 9Health executive team and other stakeholders, identifying and prioritizing new products and capabilities to be included in the digital health product suite
  • Integrating the digital health programs into other 9Health offerings (e.g., fairs & HealthHappens)
  • Working with 9Health departments to integrate the digital health program activities into the day-to-day operations of 9Health
  • Working with the 9Health executive team and other stakeholders to define the digital health product strategy and success factors

Specific responsibilities of the 9Health Director of Digital Health Products include but are not limited to:

  • Developing the overall program roadmap including critical new functionality based on staff, stakeholder, and user input/testing following product lifecycle development best practices (needs identification; requirements & scoping; prototyping & development; testing, QA, & deployment; maintenance, training & refinement)
  • Implementing a product launch methodology for 9Health digital health tools
  • Tracking and prioritizing the digital health product technology requirements against the development backlog, and report regularly on status, taking into consideration the broader technology efforts critical to other 9Health business units and operations
  • Creating tools and processes to gather feedback from 9Health digital health product participants and provide that feedback to vendors and other stakeholders so that iterative versions of the tools include improvements and features identified by customers
  • Develop a ‘balanced scorecard’ that defines success of the digital health program across a variety of factors, identify relevant measures and targets for each of these areas, and implement tools and processes to monitor and improve on the factors that impact these measures
  • Work with the 9Health marketing team and others as identified to build and execute campaigns to recruit and retain digital health product customers/participants
  • Outline and communicate the digital health program goals and objectives
  • Act as liaison between digital health program vendor(s) and 9Health Staff, stakeholders and Board and MAC members
  • Develop and implement a customer support strategy for the digital health program
  • Coordinate digital health program strategy and outcomes with overall 9Health strategy and outcomes
  • Provide oversight and management of budgets allocated to the digital health programs; input into the budget planning process for the program. Monitor and act-on financial reports.
  • Provide oversight and management of contracts and agreements with various digital health program vendors, including ensuring that 9Health commitments are met
  • With vendors and other stakeholders, define and execute the digital health program governance to maximize effectiveness of all departments and organizations needed for the program to be successful. Governance must be adaptable to the culture of 9Health as well as the culture and preferences of vendors and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement plans to capture data and results that can be used to monitor the effectiveness of the program(s), make data-driven decisions about next steps, and support marketing campaigns
  • With assistance from the health and wellness team and others, develop program quality goals and define metrics (both leading and lagging) to monitor the quality of the program

General responsibilities and skills such as the following are also expected to be part of the 9Health Director of Digital Health Products role:

  • Strategize and outline goals and objectives of the program
  • Identify resource needs and work with executive team to allocate appropriate resources
  • Set program controls/governance/standards
  • Monitor multiple projects through the entire program cycle
  • Manage the day-to-day detailed aspects of multiple projects; solve problems and issues as appropriate
  • Set timelines for goal posts/due dates
  • Coordinate and utilize resources for multiple projects in the program
  • Manage and submit program documentation
  • Communicate with stakeholders to address potential risks
  • Track program progress, set and adhere to meaningful deadlines
  • Communicate program objectives, goals, and progress to program directors, executives, upper management, and stakeholders
  • Evaluate and supervise multiple projects; organize cross-projects work within the program
  • Lead and mentor project staff and team members
  • Set objectives to maximize ROI
  • Prepare and present progress and budget reports to stakeholders
  • Manage meetings effectively
  • Present to community and volunteers

Job Requirements

  • The 9Health Director of Digital Health Products must be able to work in an unstructured environment and must be driven by the mission of improving health outcomes for the communities we serve.
  • Successful candidates will have experience in managing health care programs and an understanding of digital technologies and methodologies.
  • 9Health Fair experience is helpful but not mandatory.
  • This position requires competency in public speaking and training.
  • She/he must be detail oriented and follow-up on all tasks, exhibit high levels of integrity and initiative, and have excellent verbal, written and conflict management skills.
  • She/he must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook, and other software applications as designated by the IT department.
  • Experience in health care customer service and/or sales is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in managing a product development lifecycle is beneficial, but not required.
  • She/he must possess critical thinking skills and competency to work cooperatively while under pressure with a variety of people.
  • She/he must be able to work independently and as part of a team handling a variety of tasks and assignments concurrently.
  • Employee will know, apply, train and oversee the privacy of participant Personal Health Information.
  • This position requires the occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
