The Opportunity

Premion, the new “Over-the-Top” (“OTT”) advertising and media business, seeks a Director of Finance.  The Director of Finance will be a key accounting and finance business partner to the Premion leadership team.  The successful candidate will be responsible for month-end close, forecasting, budgeting, capital planning, and other operational analysis to support the long-term growth of Premion.  The Finance Director will operate as an internal business consultant requiring a combination of business acumen, accounting/operational/financial analysis, strong relationship skills and an understanding of systems and data.  Premion is a high growth division of TEGNA.

Responsibilities

  • Business partner to the President of Premion and the Premion Leadership team
  • Manage the annual budget and monthly forecasting process. Provide analysis for overall planning and forecasting of income statement, balance sheet and operation metrics based on identifying and modeling activity based business drivers, expense planning and variance analysis.
  • Support weekly revenue estimates through the review of scheduled billings, pipeline data and other key metrics to accurately forecast Premion’s revenue to TEGNA.
  • Responsible for the accuracy of the Financial Statements for Premion. Ensure the monthly financials are closed in a timely manner and appropriate documentation is maintained.
  • Create and maintain internal documentation and procedures to ensure proper internal controls are documented and enforced
  • Oversee the Premion Direct team’s commission calculations to ensure accuracy
  • Help coordinate and complete both internal and external audits
  • Manage vendor contracts for Premion to ensure pricing and other commitments are in the best interest of TEGNA.
  • Identify, investigate and analyze potential customer or revenue trends, efficiency opportunities or other ideas to support sales and operations. Communicate recommendations to business partners and help influence change in the organization.
  • Support the custom quote process, pricing analytics and margin analysis needed to help Premion achieve their budget goals.
  • Ability to extract, organize, analyze, and report data in a manner that is useful and relevant to the business. Performs ad-hoc analysis as needed.
  • Act as a mentor to other financial staff.

 

Job Requirements

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA/CFA preferred
  • A minimum 10+ years of progressing experience in a similar financial role supporting critical organization decision making in a profitable, fast growing company
  • Advertising and Marketing experience a plus
  • Start-up experience a plus
  • Demonstrated customer service
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strategic agility, business acumen, and ability to work with a variety of stakeholders, including high-level leaders in highly-charged situations.
  • Big picture perspective and ability to manage vision but also the ability to perform more detailed assignments as needed.
