Job Description

The Executive Assistant will use independent judgment and discretion to provide executive administrative support to TEGNA’s Chief Operating Officer.  The ideal candidate is experienced in handling a wide range of executive support tasks with the ability to work independently and proactively with a positive demeanor.

The candidate also has the ability to work well in supporting a dynamic and fast-paced organization and managing multiple tasks and conflicting priorities proactively, with accuracy, flexibility, and attention to detail. The position requires a high level of discretion and strict confidentiality of company proprietary information.

 

 Responsibilities:

  • Provide executive administrative support to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), including handling incoming calls, scheduling and coordinating meetings, monitoring and prioritizing emails, coordinating travel arrangements and logistics, preparing expense reports, and other support functions. Must be able to operate independently, making decisions as needed on requests, deadlines, follow-up issues, etc.
  • Work as a liaison between the COO and internal and external contacts (including network affiliation boards), to include coordinating required meetings and ensuring that necessary information is timely captured.
  • Collect, prepare and coordinate information for monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, including reports for TEGNA’s CEO and Board of Directors. This includes compiling and updating or editing status reports shared with CEO.
  • Anticipate needs and assist department and station leaders with awareness of upcoming deadlines.
  • Manage projects for the COO, including preparation of communications, presentations, and meeting materials.
  • Plan, coordinate and organize large Media Operations meetings including General Manager Summits.

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • College degree (or equivalent) plus minimum of 10 years’ experience providing executive level administrative support
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organization skills, ability to work on multiple projects and track multiple deadlines with little follow-up
  • Demonstrated ability to organize daily workload by priorities
  • In-depth understanding and mastery of the entire MS Office suite, with ability to learn new software, systems and technologies
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, self-starter needing little supervision, demonstrating consistent follow-through, judgment and time management skills
  • Proactive approach to problem solving with strong decision-making skills.
